Latin America grew 9.8% to $593.8 billion in crypto activity from July 2025 to June 2026, according to crypto intelligence platform Chainalysis. This reflects a sustained demand for crypto and related financial products such as stablecoins despite global headwinds in the digital currency market.
The world's sixth-largest crypto economy by adoption, LatAm saw Brazil leading the crypto-value chart at $252.5 billion, followed by Argentina ($88.5 billion) and Mexico ($39.1 billion). Though Brazil benefited from its sheer size, it's smaller economies such as Honduras (361.6%) and Nicaragua (186.4%) that grew the fastest, suggesting broader adoption across LatAm.
LatAm is seeing increased crypto adoption, as countries such as Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, and El Salvador roll out regulatory frameworks. A changing regulatory environment has led to a noticeable shift โ in a region historically associated with self-custody of crypto assets, the demand for third-party solutions is growing.
This shift becomes relevant amid a difficult time for the crypto industry. Even as the global crypto market has shed about 24% of its market capitalization over the past year, demand for stablecoins and the custody and infrastructure platforms powering their use continues to expand.
Last week, we reported how stablecoins are rapidly emerging as a viable challenger to legacy banking in Latin America. Similarly, the digital asset custody market is gaining momentum as institutional adoption grows and tokenized assets become mainstream.
