Accenture, the world’s largest IT services company, laid off around 22,000 employees globally in 2025 as it implemented its AI-driven restructuring program.
Similarly, India’s biggest outsourcing giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), slashed around 12,200 jobs, most of them experienced staff, while the company invested heavily in AI upskilling.
A similar trend can be seen worldwide.
On one hand, companies have either cut their workforce or have no plans to go on a hiring spree like before. On the other hand, they are pouring millions into retraining employees in AI capabilities as clients lean more toward outcome-based contracts rather than locking rates for several years.
