While Guyana’s FDI is dominated by oil, the Dominican Republic is attracting capital across a broader range of sectors, including tourism, renewable energy, and real estate.
The Dominican Republic is emerging as the Caribbean's top foreign investment destination outside oil-rich Guyana, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The country received more than $5 billion in foreign direct investment in 2025, up 11.3% from $4.523 billion in 2024, ECLAC said in its 2026 report.
